Tanya graduated from Dalhousie University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. After working in Halifax and as a travel nurse in medical-surgical care, she completed her perioperative nursing certification in 2005. Since then, she has worked at IWK Health in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
In 2013, Tanya transitioned into the role of Clinical Nurse Educator for the OR and PACU, where she continues to serve part-time alongside her role as an OR staff nurse. She has held CNA certification in perioperative nursing [CPN(C)] since 2009.
Tanya has been actively involved with ORNAC since 2019, serving first as a director and now as an officer.
Outside of work and volunteer commitments, Tanya enjoys time with close friends and finding peace in nature.

Laura-Lynne Funnelle is a Clinical Nurse Educator for the In-House Perioperative Program at Abbotsford Regional Hospital within the Fraser Health Authority in British Columbia. She has completed her Bachelor of Arts in Leadership after completing her diploma program in nursing.
She has 25 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in the operating room. During her time in the OR, she shared her passion for patient advocacy and implementing best practice and took on various leadership roles including a Patient Care Coordinator.
Laura has spent some time as a Surgical Clinical Review Nurse for the National Surgical Quality Improvement Program and is an active member of the Quality Improvement Team. She is the current President of the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island region of the Perioperative Nurses Association of British Columbia and is excited to begin her journey with ORNAC.

Michelle is ORNAC's Administrative Assistant. She is an enthusiastic, results-driven individual with over a decade of experience in administrative support, project management, and process improvement within CPG companies. She has a strong background in financial analysis, change management, and contract/compliance management, with a proven ability to mitigate revenue loss and improve operational efficiencies. Michelle studied Human Biology and Psychology at the University of Toronto, graduating in 2011 with an Honours Bachelor of Science. She is a mom to twin toddlers and enjoys gardening and pursuing her freshwater aquarium hobby.

Alex has been a Perioperative Nurse for 4 years. He is currently travel nursing in ORs across Canada. He enjoys the unique opportunities and challenges that come with travel nursing. Previously, he was the Spine Service Resource Nurse at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He graduated from the University of New Brunswick in 2019 with a Bachelor of Nursing first division, and in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science first division. He began serving as a Board Member of the Kennebecasis Valley Food Basket in 2021. He is passionate about promoting excellence in Perioperative Nursing and working with ORNAC to promote the Perioperative Nursing community.

Gillian Gosse is an Operating Room Nurse at the Janeway Children’s and Women’s Health Hospital in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. She began her perioperative nursing career in a tertiary care setting and has since expanded her practice to include travel nursing in Labrador, where she provided care in limited-access and resource-constrained communities.
Throughout her career, Gillian has been a strong advocate for patient-centered care, with a particular focus on access to safe, high-quality, and compassionate surgical services. Her experiences in both specialized pediatric and women’s health surgery, as well as in remote practice, have strengthened her commitment to advancing perioperative nursing practice across diverse care settings.
Gillian has taken on professional leadership roles and is currently serving as President-Elect of the Newfoundland and Labrador Operating Room Nurses Association (NLORNA). She is eager to continue building her knowledge, leadership experience, and national connections as she begins her role as a Director on the Board of the Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada (ORNAC).

Angelina is the Clinical Resource Leader of the operating room, outpatient procedure unit & MDRD at Michael Garron Hospital in Toronto, Ontario. She currently holds a Master of Nursing from Athabasca University and her CNA Certification for Perioperative Nursing.
She is also part of the faculty at Centennial College where she has taught within the perioperative nursing program for over the past 20 years. Angelina really enjoys teaching and has found it very rewarding to support new and upcoming perioperative nurses.
Through her work in the Master of Nursing Program, Angelina has found the importance of maintaining quality control for academic journals and has identified an interest in supporting the ORNAC journal where she has peer reviewed several articles and has supported its re-development to an Open Access platform which increases its accessibility and widens the dissemination of research.
She has volunteered her time as a member of the board of directors for ORNAC where she is currently in her third term.

Bio 
Nursing is Shannon’s second career, having originally earned a Bachelor of Management degree before returning to university to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 2010. She found her passion in the Operating Room in 2014 and has remained dedicated to perioperative nursing care ever since. From 2022 to 2025, Shannon served in the Public Relations role of her provincial OR nursing group (SORNG). She is excited to join a passionate and dedicated group of perioperative leaders as a member of the ORNAC Board of Directors. She looks forward to continuing her promotion and advocacy for the unique specialty of perioperative nursing.
